Why Your Website Gets Traffic but No Enquiries
6 min read

When a business tells us their site "does not work", analytics usually shows plenty of visitors. The leak is between arrival and action — and it is almost always one of seven things.
1. The page never says what you do, for whom
A visitor should be able to answer three questions in five seconds: what is this, is it for me, and what do I do next. Clever headlines that require a second read fail this test.
2. It loads too slowly on a phone
Most local and social traffic is mobile, often on a weak connection. Every additional second before the first meaningful paint costs conversions. Uncompressed hero images and heavy embedded scripts are the usual culprits.
3. There is no proof
Reviews, project photos, named case studies, certifications, and recognisable client logos do more conversion work than any design flourish. Put them next to the call to action, not on a separate page nobody visits.
4. The enquiry form asks for too much
Every additional field reduces completion. Ask for the minimum you need to have a useful first conversation, then qualify by phone or email.
5. Pricing is completely hidden
You do not have to publish a full price list, but a range, a starting point, or a typical project size filters out mismatched enquiries and reassures the serious ones.
6. Nothing happens after someone converts
Response time is the highest-impact conversion variable most businesses ignore. An automated acknowledgement plus a same-day human reply frequently doubles the number of enquiries that turn into work.
7. You are not measuring anything
Without conversion tracking on calls, forms, and chats, every decision is a guess. Instrument first, then optimise.
